ONCE UPON A TIME...

A BOY AND A GIRL LIVED IN THE CITY. tHEY DREAMED OF WIDE OPEN SPACES AND USING THE TOILET WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO WAVE TO YOUR NEIGHBOR THROUGH THE WINDOW..

JOKING ASIDE, IN 2021 WE MADE A BOLD MOVE AND PICKeD UP AND MOVED FROM THE CITY TO 15 ACRES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY. iM TALKING SO FAR OUT THAT AMISH BUGGIES MAKE A DAILY APPEARENCE PASSING BY. iN TWO SHORT YEARS WE TRANSFORMED OUR NEW PROPERTY INTO SOMETHING WE ARE VERY PROUD OF. wE TORE DOWN SOME OLD BUILDINGS, BUILT SOME NEW ONES, CREATED A FLOCK OF OVER 40 CHICKENS, BUILT A SPACE TO RAISE A FEW HEAD OF CATTLE AND CREATED A GARDEN. mY MOM HAD PASSED AWAY YEARS PRIOR IN 2010. sHE LOVED GARDENS AND i WANTED A SPACE TO GROW AS WELL. iT WAS A NICE WAY TO CONNECT WITH HER MEMORY. sO, THAT FIRST YEAR WE CREATED A SMALL GARDEN. tHAT IS ALL IT TOOK. tHE NEXT YEAR i DECIDED WE SHOULD EXPAND…. ALOT. mY HUSBAND ROLLED WITH IT AND HELPED ME TILL UP 8 4 X60 ROWS IN OUR EAST FIELD.

IN 2022 WE EXPANDED OUR GROWING AREA AGAIN. aLL 8 ROWS WE NOW DEDICATED TO CUT FLOWERS. wE ADDED A PUMPKIN PATCH, ANOTHER 8 ROWS AND A FEW RAISED BEDS FOR VEGGIES. i HOSTED SOME U-PICK EVENTS, DID MY FIRST WEDDING, AND EXPANDED OUR ORCHARD TO INCLUDE CHERRIES, PEACHES, PEARS AND APPLES.

bUT WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO PLANT THERE? mY PLAN WAS HALF VEGGIES, HALF CUT FLOWERS, BECAUSE WHO DOESNT LOVE A FRESH VASE OF CUT FLOWERS IN THEIR HOME? tHAT WAS IT. tHE DAY I FILLED MY FIRST VASE WITH HOMEGROWN CUT FLOWERS I WAS DONE FOR. iT BECAME MY ENTIRE PERSONALITY. i WENT NUTS ORDERING dAHLIA TUBERS, TAKING GARDENING COURSES, RESEARCHING IN EVERY SPARE MINUTE ABOUT ZONE AND CLIMATE AND FLOWER TYPES, IRRIGATION, PEST CONTROL AND ON AND ON AND ON.

i LOVE TO CREATE. KNITTING, BREAD, GROWING FLOWERS, BAKING. I LOVE IT ALL. BUT, MORE THAN I LOVE CREATING, I LOVE SHARING WITH OTHERS. I WORK BY DAY AS A PROJECT MANAGER. i LOVE CHANGING THE WORLD IN BIG WAYS BY CREATING SPACES FOR PEOPLE TO WORK AND PLAY AND LIVE. FLOWER FARMING IS MY WAY OF CHANGING THE WORLD CLOSE TO HOME. iT BRINGS ME SO MUCH JOY TO WATCH A TINY SEED TURN INTO SOMETHING SO BEAUTIFUL AND THEN SHARE IT WITH OTHERS. AGAIN, WHO DOESNT LOVE A VASE FULL OF FLOWERS.
